AUGUSTA – House Speaker Ryan Fecteau, D-Biddeford, and Representative Drew Gattine, D-Westbrook, Chair of the Legislature’s Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee, released the following statements in response to Governor Janet Mills’ proposed budget:
“The budget is one of the most important tasks we have before us as a Legislature, and it is a reflection of our values and priorities,” said Speaker Ryan Fecteau. “In the coming weeks, the Appropriations committee will work to produce a budget that addresses the issues Maine people are facing, ensures the services they rely on continue without interruption, and – importantly – will provide opportunities for the public to share their perspective on the Governor’s budget proposal.”
“The committee looks forward to reviewing the details of the Governor’s proposal closely and beginning the process of inviting public comment, so that the budget passed by the Legislature reflects Maine values and helps us meet the challenges we face,” said Representative Drew Gattine, House Chair of the Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee. “I appreciate that the Governor has proposed a budget that is balanced and works to maintain essential programs and services.”
