Career & Technical Education

We must invest in the next generation of our workforce and give them the tools and training to succeed.

Maine’s Career and Technical Education Centers prepare our students for well-paid in-demand jobs. Our public education system has 28 career and technical schools with an expansive reach. Yet, Maine hadn’t invested in these schools since 1998.

In 2021, I fought to change that with an investment meant to help Maine meet our workforce demands while serving as a catalyst for economic activity. Many of the careers that our CTEs specialize in are high-paying. Welders, HVAC installers, machinists, and licensed practical nurses all have median incomes over $40,000.

You can find CTE centers in nearly every corner of Maine, from Farmington to Calais and from Biddeford to Frenchville. Students from those cities and towns, as well as surrounding communities, benefit from their offerings.
