Care Workforce

From supporting our neighbors with behavior challenges or physical and mental disabilities so they can thrive, to helping our parents and grandparents age with dignity and respect, direct care workers need and deserve our support - they are the workforce behind our workforce, and a lifeline for many families.

Direct care workers provide safe and high-quality care for parents and grandparents, and kids and adults with disabilities so that their loved ones can balance caring for themselves, helping other family members, or taking a job. With a shortage of care workers and chronically low wages, there is a care gap in Maine. We need to do everything we can to sustain and grow the direct care workforce, using technology to maximize those already in the field and increase pay for these critical workers.
